Overview
Translating construction finance expertise into clear, applied learning for high-stakes credentialing.

I led the design and development of a comprehensive, CPE-accredited, multi-module eLearning course for the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), transforming a live training program into an interactive, on-demand experience.

While the course itself was built from the ground up, it needed to align precisely with the established visual design, layout, and branding of CFMA’s existing online training. Without access to source files, I reverse-engineered that design to create a fully original course, partnering with SMEs to design content for effective digital delivery.

Problem
Service providers supporting construction clients needed a clear understanding of construction-specific financial practices to work effectively in the industry.

CFMA’s existing training was delivered through live webinars and not structured for on-demand, interactive learning. Content from multiple subject matter experts required alignment to create a structured, consistent experience that supports clear, applied learning for this audience.

Solution
Partnered with CFOs and construction finance leaders to translate their expertise into cohesive, instructionally sound eLearning content.

Analyzed and restructured content from live, six-hour webinar sessions into a clear, learner-centered experience—defining learning objectives, identifying key concepts, and organizing material into a structured, progressive flow.

Designed interactive, visually guided content to support navigation and understanding of complex financial topics in an on-demand format.

The redesigned course:

  • Clarifies key financial terminology and processes

  • Guides learners through structured, progressive content

  • Reinforces understanding through targeted knowledge checks

Storyboard (Excerpt)

Before development, I created structured storyboards to define content flow, screen layout, and interaction patterns, ensuring alignment and efficient build in Storyline.

Final Development
Once all text and visual storyboard content was approved by SMEs and stakeholders, development focused on building a cohesive, polished learning experience. This included integrating interactivity, animation, and AI voiceover to support engagement and clarity across modules.

Takeaways
I worked closely with multiple CFOs and construction finance leaders to bring their expertise into a single, structured course. This meant aligning different perspectives, organizing complex content, and translating it into clear, applied learning for the target audience.

The course also needed to match an established design standard. Without access to source files, I recreated the look, feel, and structure while introducing improvements that support usability and understanding.
