Interactive eLearning for Construction Finance
Financial Essentials Training for Professional Service Providers
Responsibilities: Project Lead, Instructional Design, eLearning Designer and Developer
Target Audience: Professional Service Providers to the Financial Construction Industry
Tools Used: Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe XD, WellSaid Labs AI Voiceover
Overview
Construction finance is complex, specialized, and difficult to interpret without direct industry experience.
I led the design and development of two NASBA-accredited eLearning courses, rebuilding and upgrading existing offerings from the ground up. Working with construction finance leaders, I translated their expertise into structured, interactive learning experiences that help professional service providers apply key financial concepts when supporting construction company clients.
Problem
CFMA needed to update and strengthen its accredited training for professional service providers.
Existing courses required a full rebuild to better reflect current industry practices and improve clarity, usability, and learner engagement. In addition, subject matter expertise was distributed across multiple construction finance leaders who had not previously collaborated to develop structured learning.
Solution
I led the redesign and development of two accredited eLearning courses by working directly with CFOs and construction finance leaders as SMEs.
Rather than reusing prior course materials, I captured, aligned, and translated SME expertise into cohesive, instructionally sound content.
The courses:
Clarify key financial terminology and processes
Guide learners through structured, progressive content
Include knowledge checks to reinforce understanding
Design and Development Process
Led project planning, timeline management, and coordination with the Director of Education and CFO subject matter experts
Conducted learning analysis and defined clear learning objectives
Transformed complex webinar content into structured scripts and instructional storyboards
Created visual mockups aligned to existing course design standards
Recreated established course branding without source files, ensuring visual and structural consistency across all modules
Designed and developed interactive eLearning modules in Articulate Storyline, incorporating animation, scenario-based elements, and knowledge checks
Integrated AI-generated voice narration to support a consistent and polished learner experience
Storyboard
Before development, I created structured storyboards to define content flow, screen layout, and interaction patterns, ensuring alignment and efficient build in Storyline.

Course Sample Clips
These short clips highlight representative moments from the course, including content flow, visual design, and knowledge checks. Narration is generated using AI text-to-speech to support rapid, scalable development.
Terminology in Context: Learners click key sections of the balance sheet to reveal clear definitions directly where the terms appear.
Visual Storyboard
With the mockups reviewed and finalized, I created a full visual storyboard including screen by screen narrative text, visuals and interactive elements and functions.
Final Development
Once all text and visual storyboard content was approved by the SMEs and stakeholders, I proceeded to develop the four modules’ content and visuals, knowledge checks, combining interactivity, animation, and AI voiceover.
Takeaways
Working with an established brand and format has been an interesting experience. Even though I had no source files, I was able to replicate the branding look, feel and functionality of previous online training modules, and still incorporate original ideas and interactivity into the project.
