Overview
Creating a scenario-based prototype to support inclusive care training for healthcare workers and leaders.
I am designing an AI-assisted Articulate Storyline prototype in close collaboration with the Founder and SME of ChosenWell, who developed the organization’s 33-module inclusive care curriculum. The prototype is being created to support ChosenWell’s grant proposal for a hybrid healthcare training initiative and is currently in development.
The module is being designed for flexible delivery, supporting both facilitated hybrid training and on-demand online learning. It demonstrates how scenario-based learning, avatar-supported storytelling, and guided reflection could help frontline healthcare workers and care leaders practice more sensitive, inclusive care for LGBTQ+ elders and other underserved groups.
The goal is to make the proposed training experience visible, concrete, and fundable.
Problem
ChosenWell needed a way to show funders what a future hybrid training experience could look and feel like.
The training topic is deeply human and practice-based. It is not enough for learners to simply receive information about inclusive care. Frontline healthcare workers and care leaders need opportunities to think through realistic situations, recognize sensitive moments, and practice making respectful decisions.
A standard proposal can describe the concept, but an interactive prototype can help funders experience the learning approach more directly.
Designing Inclusive Scenario Characters
Prompt-based image development was used to create nuanced, respectful scenario characters for LGBTQ+ elders and other underserved populations.
The visual development process included creating custom character prompts, refining the tone and realism of the images, and selecting visuals that felt appropriate for a sensitive healthcare training environment.
Prompt excerpt:
“Create a realistic, warm, respectful portrait of an older adult for an inclusive eldercare training scenario. The character should feel authentic, dignified, and emotionally expressive, suitable for a healthcare decision-making module.”
From Character Images to Speaking Avatars
The character images then informed the creation of animated speaking avatars used to bring the training experience to life. SME-informed scripts were converted into audio narration and paired with avatar performance tools to support a more human, engaging learning experience.
Solution
Designed an in-progress Storyline prototype that demonstrates how inclusive care principles can be practiced through realistic decision-making.
The prototype uses scenario-based storytelling, character-driven healthcare interactions, decision points, feedback, and guided reflection to help frontline healthcare workers and care leaders think through sensitive care moments in a safe learning environment.
A key part of the solution so far has been developing human-centered visual and narrative elements that feel respectful, emotionally credible, and appropriate for the audience. Custom prompt-based image creation, avatar development, and AI-supported narration are being used to bring the prototype to life while showing how the larger hybrid training experience could engage learners.
The prototype is being designed to demonstrate how the broader training model could combine:
Self-paced eLearning
Scenario-based discussion
Reflection and application
Avatar-supported storytelling
Real-world inclusive care practice
Design and Development Process
I am developing the prototype in close collaboration with ChosenWell’s Founder and SME, using his 33-module curriculum as the foundation for the learning experience. My role is to help translate that curriculum into a focused, scenario-based prototype that can demonstrate the tone, structure, and instructional potential of the broader hybrid training model.
The development process includes:
Reviewing SME-provided curriculum content, scripts, and training goals
Identifying realistic care situations that could support scenario-based learning
Using ChatGPT to support early scenario drafting, language refinement, and interaction planning
Creating custom prompt-based images in Gemini to develop nuanced characters for LGBTQ+ elders and other underserved populations
Refining prompts and visuals to support respectful, emotionally credible representation
Converting SME-informed scripts into narrated avatar segments using HeyGen and Murf.ai
Using Vyond and Photoshop to support visual polish, scene development, and consistency
Building the interactive prototype in Articulate Storyline with decision points, feedback, and reflection moments
Throughout the process, AI is being used to accelerate development and expand creative options, while the instructional decisions remain grounded in SME expertise, learner needs, emotional tone, and respectful care practice.
From Prompt to Avatar-Based Learning Experience

Final Development / Current Status
This prototype is currently in development, with the immediate focus on creating a clear, polished sample that can support ChosenWell’s grant proposal and future training conversations.
Current development work includes refining the learner flow, integrating avatar-supported narration, building decision points in Articulate Storyline, and shaping reflection moments that connect each scenario choice to inclusive care practice. The prototype is being designed to show how the module could function both as part of a facilitated hybrid training experience and as a repurposable on-demand online course.
As the project continues, the next phase will focus on visual polish, feedback refinement, and preparing the prototype for stakeholder review.
